New Cloud-Based Registration Interface Engine From nTelagent Quickly Transforms Point-of-Service Processes in Hospitals, EDs

nTelagent’s Retail Application for Healthcare plugs in to a healthcare provider’s current technology infrastructure, allowing the host system to interface with nTelagent’s solution in a near-immediate, cost-effective, turnkey manner.

October 27, 2009 (Nashville, Tenn.) --- Thanks to nTelagent, Inc.’s revolutionary Registration Interface Engine, hospitals, emergency departments and other healthcare providers are transforming their point-of-service processes in a fast, cost-effective, turnkey manner. The new engine is the backbone of nTelagent’s point-of-service collection system, called the Retail Application for Healthcare. Similar to applications used in the retail industry at the point of sale, the nTelagent system, built on a cloud computing platform, performs all necessary calculations and tells healthcare registrars and financial counselors exactly what to do and what to say at the point of service about financial responsibilities – regardless of whether the patient is insured, uninsured or charity.

Developed by nTelagent, the technology behind the company’s Registration Interface Engine makes it extremely simple and fast for a hospital’s host system to interface with the Retail Application – at a fraction of the cost of other interface products. With nTelagent’s engine, the process can take a few short days or less, compared to the weeks or months other vendors may take for building interfaces. No programming is required on the part of the provider. Instead, nTelagent receives guarantor demographic information (ADT data) from the host system, and then nTelagent’s team of HL7-certified specialists processes and interprets the data on nTelagent’s end – saving the healthcare provider valuable time and potentially tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Just like other businesses, healthcare organizations require seamless integration of all types of applications and information to be successful and efficient,” noted Earl T. Winter, nTelagent’s chairman and CEO. “When we were developing our Retail Application, a vertical application built on a cloud computing platform, we were guided by the idea that our technology had to easily mesh and ‘talk to’ other systems. If it didn’t do that quickly and in a budget-friendly manner, it would be nothing more than another cost burden to healthcare providers. That’s the power of our Registration Interface Engine. We are proud that our clients can simply plug in nTelagent’s system and in a very short timeframe transform their front-end processes.”

Once nTelagent’s solution interfaces with the host system, patient access staff can quickly and easily scan outstanding registrations to see which entries are complete and accurate and which ones either are missing information, have errors or have triggered a Red Flags Alert. The automatic address verification feature immediately notifies the registrar of potential errors, inadequate information or Red Flags Alerts, because nTelagent’s system checks to make sure the guarantor in question is indeed associated with the address provided, not just that the address is valid.  For those clients using nTelagent’s next-generation insurance verification module, insurance information edits are in place. For instance, nTelagent’s system checks that all payor IDs are properly entered and that all guarantor insurance information is verified. Through identification of potential errors at point of service, claim rejections and denials are drastically reduced.

The Registration Interface Engine allows for enhanced productivity among the healthcare service provider’s staff, as there is little-to-no lag time between purchase decision and implementation of the Retail Application. Within a short timeframe, the provider will see streamlined, effective point-of-service processes, resulting in increased collections, upfront and overall, and increased cash on hand, as well as decreases in bad debt and AR days. Because the Retail Application is web-based, nTelagent’s clients are not required to build tables or perform any maintenance or programming on the system. All table builds, updates and routine maintenance are virtually performed by nTelagent’s staff of experts on an ongoing basis, requiring none of the client’s time.
