"Innovator" Award

August 6, 2008 (Nashville, Tenn.) --- nTelagent, Inc. founder, chairman and CEO Earl T. Winter has been elected to the Nashville Business Journal’s Class of 2008 Health Care Heroes, in the “Innovator” category. nTelagent is a next-generation revenue cycle company that is revolutionizing the accounts receivable processes for hospitals, physician practices and all other healthcare service providers, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The NBJ’s Health Care Heroes program is a salute to the innovators, strategists and pioneers whose work is helping to grow the region’s healthcare industry and reinforcing Nashville as the healthcare capital of the nation. Honorees in 10 categories include professionals working in medicine, research, insurance, finance, law, real estate, construction and other fields serving the healthcare industry.

A reception to honor this year’s class of Health Care Heroes will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, 611 Commerce Street. For more information or to RSVP, visit http://nashville.bizjournals.com/nashville/event/4131.

What makes nTelagent -- and its CEO -- so innovative? In today’s environment, healthcare service providers are struggling to answer questions such as: “How much am I going to get paid for the services I provide?” and “Who is going to pay me, and how much?” Similarly, as more financial responsibility is shifted to patients, healthcare consumers are now having to face such questions as: “How much is my care going to cost?” and “What part of the bill am I going to have to pay?” and “Are there payment options available?”

nTelagent, a next-generation revenue cycle company, has developed an innovative, proven technology to answer these all-important questions for providers and patients: its proprietary, web-based Self-Pay Management System, or SPMS (patent pending). Producing customized, scripted information based on a service provider’s own business rules, the system intuitively guides patient access staff through complex revenue cycle processes, such as eligibility verification, demographic validation, payment assessment, Medicaid and charity care qualification, and pricing transparency at their desktop.

Due to the compatibility of nTelagent’s SPMS with existing legacy systems, providers can simply “bolt on” nTelagent’s integrated platform to existing systems to create a one-stop shop for comprehensive front-end accounts receivable management. Unlike traditional revenue cycle solutions (which focus on the back-end processes) or niche players who focus on only one aspect of the front-end process, nTelagent’s system works on the front end of the patient encounter.

nTelagent’s solution enables healthcare providers to address the full continuum of healthcare consumers, including the insured, the underinsured, the uninsured, the poor and the disabled. The company’s predictive modeling technologies provide an online interface at the point of service that identifies charity care as well as appropriate third-party payors, such as federal, state and local governments. In addition, the nTelagent system identifies and acts on behalf of patients who are eligible for but not yet enrolled in entitlement programs such as Medicaid and Social Security Disability Insurance, providing outreach and advocacy services to facilitate their enrollment.

About nTelagent, Inc.
Nashville-based nTelagent, Inc., a next-generation revenue cycle company, has developed a proprietary technology platform, the Self-Pay Management System (SPMS), that is revolutionizing the accounts receivable processes for hospitals, physician practices and all other healthcare service providers, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. For providers, SPMS improves upfront and overall cash flow, receivables and profitability by reducing bad debt and improving the revenue cycle process for self-pay patients. The company’s turnkey technologies enable providers to consistently move workflow to the front end of the revenue cycle, both pre-service and at the point of service. Using non-credit scoring data, the SPMS provides registrars and financial counselors with interactive scripts that integrate patient demographic information with each provider’s unique business policies and rules. The system also automatically identifies discounting and charity care options when applicable, ensuring that patient financial accounting -- for both insured and uninsured patients -- is handled appropriately and in a non-discriminatory manner.
