nTelagent Selects QUOVADX Cloverleaf Integration Suite to Facilitate
Payment Collection Process
July 3, 2007 (Greenwood Village, CO) --- The Integration Solutions division (ISD) of
Quovadx, Inc. (Nasdaq: QVDX), a global, market-leading integration and interoperability software
business serving private and public healthcare and healthcare IT vendor organizations, today
announced that nTelagent, a company focused on helping healthcare service providers make better
decisions and better manage the accounts of self-pay and underinsured patients, has selected the
QUOVADX® Cloverleaf® Integration Suite to facilitate the payment collection process for nTelagent’s
Self-Pay Management System.
For healthcare providers, nTelagent’s system ensures improvement in up-front cash flow, receivables
and overall profitability by reducing bad debt and improving the revenue cycle process for patients
who must pay a portion of the bill through co-pays and deductibles. nTelagent’s system also enables
banks to partner with healthcare providers in offering patients options for paying their medical bills.
This is done in a scripted fashion based upon the healthcare service provider’s policies or procedures.
nTelagent will use the Cloverleaf Integration Suite to integrate its patient responsibility solution with its
customers’ existing clinical and financial systems, allowing nTelagent to more easily obtain and
integrate information from disparate data sources. The Cloverleaf solution will receive, translate,
aggregate and integrate data sent from the payer systems to nTelegant’s Self-Pay Management
System, thereby enabling the system to make accurate recommendations regarding patient
responsibility.
For self-pay patients, nTelagent’s system helps ensure that accounts are handled properly and
consistently from the point of service, including the application of appropriate discounts and charity
care based on each healthcare provider’s business rules and accounting policies. The nTelagent
system identifies whether patients qualify for a healthcare service provider’s charity plan by
determining whether they qualify for Medicaid or another type of discount. This is then applied in a
consistent and non-discriminatory manner.
“nTelagent needed a strong integration partner. Quovadx was the obvious choice as the defacto
standard for healthcare integration among healthcare industry professionals,” said Earl Winter, chief
executive officer, nTelagent. “Because the Cloverleaf Integration Suite is the most widely selected
integration engine in the industry, many of our provider customers already use and trust its proven
solutions. This partnership will allow for an improved patient experience at the point of service as it will
further increase upfront and overall collections for our customers, reducing bad-debt expense for
healthcare service providers and helping reduce administrative costs that are ultimately felt by
consumers as a whole.”
The QUOVADX solution correlates data such as patient insurance eligibility, and co-pay information
and maps data integration into the existing workflow of the nTelagent system. It then analyzes the
data and makes immediate payment recommendations to the office staff and financial counselors at
the hospitals when service is rendered. The Cloverleaf-driven solution enables healthcare providers to
more effectively collect portions of the bill that are the patients’ responsibilities by transforming data
sent from disparate IT systems and applications into valuable and actionable information.
“The insured population is becoming increasingly responsible for higher deductibles, co-insurance and
health savings plan minimums, making it difficult for providers to determine the proper patient payment
plans at the time of service and more complex to accurately bill patients and insurance companies,”
said Afshin Cangarlu, executive vice president for Quovadx and president of the company’s
Integration Solutions division. “Working with nTelagent will help improve those collection processes,
making the experience easier for healthcare providers and patients.”
Currently, it is estimated that healthcare providers are holding $30 billion dollars in patient bad debt,
with projected growth to $60 billion in five years. nTelagent’s Self-Pay Management System helps
solve this problem as it improves up-front cash and overall cash collection from patients while lowering
administrative costs.
The Cloverleaf Integration Suite, a system integration solution for healthcare providers and payers,
connects disparate IT systems and applications across an enterprise or beyond, normalizes the data
for presentation, and transforms the data into value-rich information. The Cloverleaf solution enables
real-time sharing of clinical, administrative and financial data throughout an organization, maximizing
the value of existing technology systems and decreasing the cost of integrating the healthcare
enterprise.
